Crochet Popcorn Pillow Pattern

With summer in full swing, I wanted a crochet project that was simple, portable, and satisfying — something I could work on while watching my kids run around at the park or splash in the pool. What started as a pouf design took a turn (thanks to some stubborn insert issues), but the pivot led to something even better: this textured popcorn stitch pillow. Made with We Crochet Dishie cotton yarn and a 4.5mm hook, it’s a quick, one-color project that packs a lot of punch with bold, touchable texture.

The popcorn stitch really shines here — even in a solid color, it creates a sculptural, high-impact look that’s perfect for freshening up your summer space. And if you're new to the stitch or just want a refresher, I’ve got you covered with a step-by-step tutorial to walk you through it. Whether you're lounging outdoors or squeezing in stitches between summer chaos, this easy-level pattern is just the kind of relaxing make you’ll want in your project bag.

This pattern is written in crochet shorthand. Example: "SC 1" means to single crochet in the next stitch and "SC 30" means to single crochet into the next 30 stitches.

Popcorn stitches will always be worked on the Wrong Side (WS) of your fabric. This technique ensures that the popcorn texture "pops" out on the Right Side (RS) of the finished piece.

CH 1 does not count as a stitch.
